Is Loki a Giant or a God?
Technically, by birth, he is a Jötunn (Giant). His father is the giant Fárbauti (“Cruel Striker”) and his mother is Laufey. However, because he lived among the Æsir and became Odin’s blood-brother, he is counted among the gods… until his betrayal.
How was Loki punished for killing Baldr?
The gods captured him and bound him in a cave using the intestines of his own son, Narfi (which turned into iron). The goddess Skadi placed a venomous snake above his head, dripping poison onto his face. His wife, Sigyn, sits by him holding a bowl to catch the venom, but when she leaves to empty it, the poison burns him, causing him to writhe—which creates earthquakes.
